Senior Living 101: What is LifeCare®?

Senior living provides older adults with social opportunities, amenities and services, and health care, but not all communities are the same. In a Life Plan Community, or Continuing Care Retirement Community, residents have everything they need to age well and in place should their health needs change.

“As a Life Plan Community offering a LifeCare® contract, we provide higher levels of care to residents if and when they need it,” said Beth Houk, Director of Marketing at The Heritage at Brentwood®. “We can answer questions like what is LifeCare®, what health care services does our community provide, and what amenities are available at our community.”

LifeCare® is a contract option offered by some Life Plan Communities and is also known as a Type A contract. A LifeCare® contract covers your senior living residence, use of amenities and services, and health care services for a predictable cost, no matter how your health needs change.

A LifeCare® contract requires an upfront entrance fee and subsequent monthly fees. You’ll have access to the community’s continuum of care should your health care needs change without worrying about your monthly fee increasing or paying market price for your health care services.

“Our residents move into independent living with peace of mind that they can get the short-term and long-term care they need here. With their health care future covered, they can focus on living an engaging and social life in our vibrant community,” said Beth.
