Senior Health and Wellness

A whole-person approach to wellness.

At The Heritage, every day is a new opportunity to live life to the fullest. To support your active lifestyle, we offer opportunities in four essential areas that contribute to overall health: fitness, nutrition, active life and well-being. They’re the cornerstones of our HealthyLife® Services program.

  • Fitness – We offer a variety of classes to help you reach your personal fitness goals and feel your best.
  • Nutrition – From garden-fresh salads to sustainably harvested seafood, healthy and delicious are always on the menu.
  • Active Life – Participating in activities that you enjoy is essential to healthy aging. Just tell us what you’d like to do, and we’ll make it happen.
  • Well-Being – From preventive health screenings to assistance in obtaining health services, your well-being is our top priority.

Our whole-person approach to wellness integrates eight dimensions of wellness with programs that support physical, social, emotional, intellectual, vocational, spiritual and environmental wellness, in addition to a continuum of health services provided on-site. Personalized fitness programs.

Professional instructors from the National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) who specialize in senior fitness will create a personal fitness program that fits your needs. You can pump iron on the latest fitness equipment. Join an aqua fit class in the indoor heated pool. Stretch out in yoga. Build your balance with tai chi. Throw strikes in Wii bowling. Join a dance class. Or simply walk or bike to a local park. We’ll help you reach your fitness goals however you want to do it.

Want some pampering after your workout? You’ll find an infused water bar, day spa and massage room in the well-appointed Healthy Life® Services building.

Brain games help keep us sharp.

When you’re not exercising your body, you can stimulate your mind with the DakimBrainFitness program. Residents can access it online, test themselves or challenge their neighbors to match wits. Book and bridge clubs, mahjong, guest lectures, movies and other intellectually stimulating activities fill our calendar. You’ll also find opportunities for creative expression, volunteering, or joining a resident committee to foster new ideas for making life at The Heritage even better.

Check out our activities calendar for a look at our active and well-rounded lifestyle. It’s the secret to maintaining a healthy, happy you.
