What's the difference between a Life Plan Community and typical senior living?

Most senior living communities don’t offer high levels of specialized care. Need advanced memory support or skilled nursing? You’re relocating to a different facility—new address, new faces, starting over. Life Plan Communities like The Heritage provide every level of care on one campus, so your address never changes even when your needs do. Plus, our Type A LifeCare® contract protects you from the dramatic cost increases that typically accompany higher levels of care. It’s continuity and financial security rolled into one.

What if only one spouse needs additional care?

If one spouse needs assisted living or memory care while the other stays in independent living, you’re still neighbors—able to visit daily, share meals, and stay connected to the same community and social group. Our LifeCare® contract even covers both spouses, protecting you financially when care needs diverge.

Can I receive home health services in my independent living residence?

Absolutely. Many residents receive home health care right in their villa or apartment—wound care, medication management, physical therapy—allowing you to recover privately without disrupting your routine. We also have Williamson Medical Group’s clinic on campus for sick visits or primary care appointments.

Does Medicare cover services at Somerfield Health Center?

Medicare covers qualifying skilled nursing and rehabilitation services at our health center, just like any skilled nursing facility. Our team helps you navigate the insurance maze.
