The Heritage at Brentwood® Hosts Inaugural Art After Dark Fundraiser

Event Supported the Alzheimer’s Association® and Celebrated Local Creativity
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Heritage at Brentwood®, a culturally connected senior living community, successfully hosted its first-ever Art After Dark event on Tuesday, September 23rd. This special evening combined a vibrant art sale with a meaningful fundraising effort in support of the Alzheimer’s Association®, while highlighting the creative talents of local and resident artists.

The event took place at a time when awareness and support for Alzheimer’s disease remain critically important. Currently, 7.2 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia—impacting 1 in 9 seniors nationwide. By 2025, the cost of care is projected to reach $384 billion, with nearly 12 million unpaid caregivers playing a vital role in supporting those affected.

Art After Dark embodied The Heritage at Brentwood’s ongoing commitment to addressing the many dimensions of aging. The evening celebrated the independence, talent, and vibrant creativity of its residents while also standing in solidarity with individuals and families facing Alzheimer’s disease.

The event featured an impressive and diverse collection of artwork, including watercolors, acrylics, fiber art, ceramics, collage, photography, embroidery, and handcrafted pieces. Attendees had the opportunity to meet the artists, hear their stories, observe live demonstrations, and purchase meaningful works of art—all while supporting a critical cause.

Highlights from the evening included:]

  • An art sale featuring pieces by local artists and residents of The Heritage
  • Live artistic demonstrations
  • Artist meet-and-greet opportunities
  • Live music, cocktails, and desserts
  • Direct fundraising support for the Alzheimer’s Association®

The event also reflected the growing recognition of art therapy as a powerful tool for individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Research shows that creative activities can boost mood, reduce anxiety, and provide meaningful engagement for those experiencing cognitive decline.

Proceeds from the evening benefited the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to accelerate research, provide care and support services, and advocate for policy change to improve the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
