Environmental Services’ Stella Sarfo named June Employee of the Month

The Heritage at Brentwood’s June Employee of the Month, Stella Sarfo, is not the most visible employee to residents but she is among the most valuable.

Stella joined senior living community’s Environmental Services team in August 2018 as a Laundry Associate. While residents might not see her out and about as much as her housekeeping and janitorial team members, Stella has a big presence within her department. She works the evening shift during the week plus alternating weekends to ensure the community’s laundry needs are met.

Stella is originally from Ghana in West Africa. Her son, Maxwell Sowah, brought Stella to Tennessee in 2012 when he needed her help while he worked and attended school. Today she lives with Maxwell and her 7-year-old grandson, Joel, in Clarksville, TN.

After moving to Tennessee, Stella held several jobs including her previous role as a caregiver at Somerby Senior Living. Since coming to The Heritage at Brentwood, Stella has found that the people are very nice, and she appreciates that everyone is respectful to one another. She is especially complimentary of Willetta Page, Director of Environmental Services, who Stella describes as “transparent.” She adds that Willetta respects and is fair to everyone on her team and at The Heritage.

Willetta speaks admirably about Stella, too. “Stella is committed to excellence,” Page said. “She corrects all wrongs and reports them to me. This helps maintain a safe working environment in the laundry.”

When she is not working, Stella enjoys watching movies and reading her Bible. And she will also tell you that she believes she has the best job!
